Re: Some blogs are ugly + My Pet Peeve
I came across this post by Diels and I agree with what they said.
Our blogs are forms of expression, from the text to the appearance. Sometimes, some aren't so… aesthetically pleasing?
I agree with what they said.
I too, want to make it clear before I continue, that I will never say your site is ugly to your face.
And for me personally, I find white background (more specifically, #FFFFFF. #FFFFFF as a text colour is fine) hurts my eyes more than a dark background. Other light themed background are fine, depending on the text colour.. usually. And for obvious reason, I also understand dark background can also feel like not so aesthetically pleasing (or hurting their eyes) for some people.
I think that's what makes us, us. Because blogs have a feel with the theme they use but at the same time, please try not to use Dark Green as a text colour on a Dark Blue background (as an example). For a lack of a better phrase, can't see shit on that colour of choice.
I can understand white text on dark background or black text on a light blue background but not dark coloured text on anything dark background. So make sure you use this website to check your background and text contrast, if possible.
And some of the blogs I came across, for better or for worse, font size. I too, uses PC to read alot of the posts. And the font size is so small and I had to enlarge your site to read it, and I'm nearer to mid-life crisis than elderly care home. Unless it's for aesthetic purposes (like for a funny effect or for a few little words-only notes for clarification), anything equal or smaller than 14px (or .9em) for font size (for main body long paragraph text) is unreadable1 on PC. And then there is curvy-style2 font, I had to give up reading cause it genuinely causing me headaches. lol.
What surprises me was the large font, like extremely huge ones. Makes my reading a whole lot easier.
Pet Peeve
Pet peeve time. First of all, I don't mind if you have an unique mouse pointer for your blog/website. Second of all, please don't re-size it so small that I can't even find it. I'm using PC to read your blog and I hate not being able to find my mouse pointer because you set an unique pointer that's too small to see on PC. And I almost wanted to close the entire browser just because of that. lmao.
Conclusion
Of course, like Diels had said, I can't control anyone's life but it would be nice to have more blogs with legible text and a mouse pointer that's decently sized.
Disclaimer, I do not have anyone in mind when I wrote this. I do apologise in advance if anyone of you felt like it was.

And I want you all to understand that certain fonts are smaller than the others even if they are the same size. So choose carefully, along with the font size you've picked.↩
For the record, slight curvy font is readable. What I meant here is, doctor-style curvy font. You know? That one that seemingly look like drawing but it's actually written words?↩
