Re: Your blog won't explode
I saw this post by Robert Birming just now.
I've tried both using mockups and a "fake blog" for this purpose, but it's never felt quite right doing it. I need to see it live to really know what fits and what doesn't.
If I had an idea and that idea requires moderate change in layout between the current and the next one, My idea is to have a 2nd blog1 to see how it looks like rather than trying on the main one (this blog, for me). I don't like to mess with things that I may not fully understand yet. I'm also not the biggest fan in tuning it live on the main blog, especially if I just blogged about something. I don't want to scare off people if I mess things up right at that moment with two massively different layouts when they just finish reading a post and onto the next post of mine. 🤣
Although I too, not a fan of mockups because I like seeing things live (through a 2nd blog of course).
For colour themes, if its just a tiny bit of change, I'll do it live. Otherwise, I'll try to keep it separate, if possible. 😂 I have the tendency of not copy the original colour elsewhere before making changes, but that's on me. I just forget ... sometimes.
Speaking of ideas, I have yet to work on them. Maybe when I stop being lazy. or when I dedicate time to it.
Same with posts and pages. It's not until it goes live that I truly know if there's something I want to tweak. Removing something (which for me is more common than adding something), changing formatting, using a different word or phrasing, including a link...
This, I agreed with this a lot. Doesn't matter if it's my main blog or a test blog2, I need the post/page to go live before I start tweaking or rephrasing my words (this doesn't mean I never try phrasing it correctly the first time round 🤣).
So all in all, if anyone of you have a draft that hasn't seen the light of the day (especially if it's in the draft forever), put it out there!
